Eye Foundation Supports Brain Research

Children are at risk of developing poor vision in one eye due to amblyopia (a visual disorder due to abnormal vision during critical periods of brain development), which affects approximately 2 to 5 out of every 100 children. BioSci postdoctoral researcher Carey Y. L. Huh, Ph.D., is interested in determining the mechanisms that govern vision loss in amblyopia. Dr. Huh has recently been awarded a Career Starter grant from the Knights Templar Eye Foundation (KTEF) Inc. The award will help further her research on amblyopia, which is conducted with Neurobiology and Behavior Professor Sunil Gandhi. The KTEF awards are given once a year to promising young researchers like Dr. Huh to support their efforts investigating eye diseases in infants and children. For more info, visit http://www.knightstemplar.org/ktef/
